“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but – I hope – into a better shape.”
This appears in Charles dickens Great Expectations in Chapter 59. this is where pip goes back after 11 years to visit Joe and biddy and it has brought back memories about whats happend over his life.
This quote comes form when Pip meets Estella and they both start talking about how they feel. Pip always loved Estella since he met her at Ms Haversham. Pip kept his feelings from Estella because thought he was not intelligent or posh enough for her. This shows in the words form the “Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching”.
